at Empyrean Arts

At Empyrean Arts, our intensives and certification programs are designed for students, performers, and instructors looking to deepen their movement practice through focused, immersive training. Based in Asheville, these programs combine technical instruction, safe progression, conditioning, flexibility, and movement education across aerial arts, pole arts, and embodied movement disciplines. Whether you are pursuing professional instruction, expanding your teaching skills, or diving deeper into your personal practice, our intensives are built to challenge, support, and inspire growth.

Aerial Silks & Aerial Hoop Intensives

Our Intensives are an in-depth approach to learning foundational Aerial Silks or Aerial Hoop (aka Lyra) techniques, tricks, and safe progressions.

This is an open level beginning aerial training that is ideal for anyone, from the complete novice student to the experienced student seeking a higher understanding of foundation skills. This is a good place to start for those interested in learning to teach aerial arts.

Attendees will experience Introduction to Aerial Arts classes as a student, followed by a thorough break down of each beginning aerial skill featured in these demo classes. The class material will be used to create a cumulative flexibility and strength building vocabulary.

For experienced aerialists interested in teaching aerial arts, this training will provide insight in how to create an accessible curriculum to the brand new-to-aerial student. To be certified to teach material presented in this intensive, attendees must attend and successfully complete the Aradia/Empyrean Arts Beginning Aerial Teacher Training and Certification.

Beginning Aerial Arts Teacher Certification

Our Beginning Aerial Arts Teacher Certification is an in depth approach to learning how to safely teach Aerial Silks or Aerial Hoop (Lyra) techniques, tricks, progressions, and beginner curriculum development. This training is open to students who have successfully completed the Aradia Aerial Intensive, or applicants who demonstrate proficiency in foundational aerial skills.

For Silks, applicants should be comfortable with a basic wrap climb and descent on both sides, clean aerial footlocks on both sides, and standing inversions such as tuck ups, straddle holds, and knee hooks. For Lyra, applicants should be able to perform a clean mount and dismount, maintain a comfortable double knee hang, and hold a bent arm underhand grip on the bottom bar for at least five seconds.

Participants will first experience Introduction to Aerial Arts classes as students before moving into detailed breakdowns of each featured skill, including spotting techniques and safe progressions. Training material is designed to build a cumulative vocabulary of flexibility, conditioning, and aerial technique while also providing clear guidance for structuring accessible beginner classes.

Attendees will receive curriculum frameworks suitable for both drop in and series based class formats. Additional certification requirements outside of the in person four day training must also be completed within a specified timeframe.
